Prioritising rest and recovery postpartum isn’t selfish…

I think there is a common conception that if we choose to prioritise ourselves postpartum we are seen as selfish…
Well I’m here to tell you that’s wrong! I honestly couldn’t disagree more.

Prioritising rest and recovery postpartum isn’t selfish, it’s you looking after your future self so you can be your best and healthiest self for you and your little one.

When we become a mother is common for our priorities to shift and change, we all of a sudden put the life and wellbeing of our children first, and with that, we can forget ourselves and what we need to be our best selves.

So here is my food for thought…
We can’t be our best selves and prioritise our kids without looking after ourselves postpartum for how we transition from maiden to mother can impact us for years to come, physically and mentally.

Taking time to rest, recover, and heal is not selfish nor should it be seen as a luxury.
Resting, recovering, and healing post-birth shouldn’t be seen or felt as a luxury but more of a normal, natural, and physiological part of birth and postpartum.

Just like your body takes time to transform and grow your baby, it also needs time to recover from pregnancy and heal from birth.

A prioritised postpartum encourages healing, bonding, and oxytocin - 3 beautiful things that can make an impacting difference on a woman, her entrance into motherhood, and her little one
